Fancy Colors and Lightsabers

Seems like it took forever for Friday to get here.

I’ve always wanted a lightsaber. A good friend of mine has a couple and when I go visit him, we actually play around with his and pretend we are characters in Star Wars. #dontjudgeme I know you would do the same thing. Since I don’t have my own lightsaber, I might have to get this Star Wars Lightsaber Light Up Toothbrush.

I'm a snorer. I admit it. So I really need to watch who I fall asleep around and make sure they don’t have one of these Snore Stopping Boxing Gloves.

Let Me Be Your Motivation

Today was definitely the opposite of last Monday. I woke up and was not feeling it. Didn’t want to get out of bed, but somehow I still managed to throw on my workout clothes and run. It was probably the comments from two of my Twitter followers getting on me because I decided not to run yesterday. Sunday is my off day. SUE ME!

Today was supposed to be a hardcore workout day, running in the morning and Zumba toning and regular Zumba this evening. My Zumba partner flaked on me (forgot her workout clothes). I’m still going to hit up Zumba and make it through both classes. I think I’m starting to get obsessed about the calories I can burn working out. Two Zumba classes is 1000 calories. (Insert happy dance here)

The pain in my shins is lessening so that’s a good thing. So my goal this week is to continue my 5K training and improve the time it takes me to run a mile. We’ll see how that goes.

Spinning Around in Tutus and Hermes

Who said tutus are just for little girls? I’ve been dying, yes dying for a tutu. My mom wouldn’t let me take ballet when I was younger, but my desire to wear a tutu still lives on. Might have to order the Black Tutu by Bob & Blossom.

Loving the look of these Ray-Ban Transparent Frame Mirror Lens Sunglasses. I’m not sure if the blue lens would look good on me, but these sunglasses are hot.

Just Call Me Ambassador Kindrunner

Now that I’m officially training for a 5K, I get to really break in my running shoes. I used to be someone who would only buy sneakers based on the color, not necessary comfort. But its sooooooooooooo important to invest in good running shoes that support your feet and the way that you run. So I invested in a pair of Brooks Glycerin 9 Running shoes.

I purchased my shoes from running store, but a great alternative to that is a wonderful site called Kindrunner.com. I found out about Kindrunner through another blogger and after checking out their website I was pretty excited.

Kindrunner is operated by passionate runners that have all worked in the industry for 40+ years.

They offer a Custom Fit Process from the comfort of your home. You will get the same expertise of a running store, without ever having to leave your couch. After you fill out a simple form, you have a 1-on-1 phone conversation with an expert that will suggest the best-fitting shoes for you.

No One Said It Would Be Easy

I had a great weekend and some exciting news to share tomorrow, so make sure you come back tomorrow for my big announcement.

Last week, I sorted slacked off on the exercise. Well maybe not slacked off, but I didn’t go as hard as I wanted to. Definitely didn’t get my two-a-days done like I wanted. This morning, I started my training for a 5K, but I also plan to keep up with my cardio in the evenings.

I love searching Instagram on Monday mornings because the Monday Motivation pictures are so great. I found so many this morning, so here are my faves for the week.

OK Monday, Let's Do This!

I woke up this morning feeling like this:

But definitely a little shaky and unsure of the decision I had made this weekend.

So on Friday, after I had run out of lives on Candy Crush, I’m checking my Facebook timeline and come across and ad for this race called The Rave Run and I was intrigued. I checked out their website here and was super excited because this combines two things I’ve wanted to do: go to a rave and run a 5K. A couple years ago, I wanted to go to a rave to see what it was all about and a good friend of mine talked me out of it, saying it wasn’t the type of environment I wanted to be in (funsucker!). LOL So I decided no rave for me. And last year, I had planned to run a 5K with a friend, I went out and bought my expensive running shoes and then I chickened out.

Randomly Fancy

Its been a long week and this Fancy Friday list is so random, but here it is:

Love this play on words “Line Up the….” T-shirt.

iShower Bluetooth Speaker is cool if you love listening to music while you are taking a shower like me. I need this in my shower, especially for those days when I'm washing my hair and I feel like I'm in the bathroom forever.

No No No, Not in My House

Weekends always seem to fly by. I need another 3-day weekend. Hurry up 4th of July. This weekend I went to support my girl Austria at her SHE B.A.N.G.S (BEAUTIFUL AND NEVER GONNA STOP) MAKEUP TOUR. If you are ever in need of a great makeup artist, contact her at imageizit@gmail.com. After that I went to get some yummy swirl margaritas from Lauriol Plaza. If you’ve never been to Lauriol Plaza in DC, you have to go at least once. Good drinks and great food; just be prepared to wait at least an hour.

The yumminess that is the Swirl Margarita

That's What I Read

No Fancy Friday post this week. Its been a really stressful and busy week, but I'll be back on track next week. In the meantime and in between time, check out some of the things I've been reading...

YSF Magazine has 7 Ways to Transform Your Home Office with some pretty cool gadgets. One of them was actually featured on the blog here.

Decorate Me Diana has the cutest DIY for Chevron Cork board. The Chevron print is really catching my eye this year. I might have to make this cork board. It would be good to display my jewelry on.

Recently, I've really gotten into baseball and plan to go to a lot of games this year. The food always looks so good and smells good. Last time I went to a game, I ordered nachos. They ended being a waste of my money and calories because the meat was super ground up and not too tasty. Self Magazine has a great article on the Do's and Don'ts of Ballpark Food.

I'm not part of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee and always seem to find it hard to find the right sports bra. Team Beach Body has a great post on how to find a Bounce-Free Sports Bra.

I'm not a morning person, but my parents are. Living with them for 21 years, I learned how to 'fake being a morning person'. But since its been so long since I've lived with my parents, I'm losing my skill. Refinery 29 gives tips on how to Be a Morning Person.

Take the "Are You Bourgie?" quiz on Clutch Magazine. I picked mostly B's for the quiz. No shock, surprise or shame here.

Last, but not least, I thought The Every Girl had some pretty good Tips to Building a smart Marriage.

Have a great weekend and stay dry if you are on the East Coast!

I Need a Word Boner

Remember the Be Happy. It Drives People Crazy” t-shirt featured in last week’s Fancy Friday? I really liked the t-shirt and decided to check out the company that makes them: Word Boner. I had to laugh at the name. Clever.

I love t-shirts with clever or inspiration messages. Check out my faves below:

Pulpo and The Giant Octopus

Normally my weekends are pretty low-key, but this last weekend was different. I was craving seafood Friday night and didn’t really feel like driving out to Arlington to go to Chasin Tails. (If you love seafood and Cajun seasoning, this is the place to go.) My girl and I decided to try out Hot n Juicy in the Woodley Park area of DC. We ordered snow crab legs, I got shrimp and she got mussels. YUMMY! The seafood was so good, I woke up the next morning wishing I had leftovers. If you ever try out either Hot n Juicy get the Hot n Juicy Special seasoning. It’s a combination of lemon pepper, garlic butter, juicy Cajun and Louisiana style. Delicious!

Squats, Abs and Crunches - OH MY

Better late than never!

June is a big month for fitness challenges. I was really gung ho about doing all the challenges. I started walking in the mornings before work for about 40 minutes and then coming home after work and doing another 35-40 minutes of cardio.

I am determined to keep up with this squat challenge. I'm still seeking the perfect cuff. I see it forming and I'm so excited. #dontjudgeme Every woman wants a cuff. More info on the Squat Challenge can be found on the Somastruct website.
